There are plenty of good options from the likes of Dell which satisfy my requirement there, its […]

Ha yeah, same circle I was going through. I was just lucky I went round the circle before stocks were depleted all over.

Always happy to help though wherever I can, it a big decision that’s for sure. Especially when the company I work for (Veeam) are bringing out an agent to backup MacOS!

I think my options will come down to:
1. Pony up for the MacBook
2. Run Linux with Windows VM
3. Run Windows with WSL2, possibly a Linux VM if that doesn’t work.

Even with something fairly top end like a Razer Stealth you’ve still got budget left to get more kit. And with the touch screen option it helps with digital whiteboarding.

Back round that circle I go!

Exactly that, it was the price tag but also the fact if I went Windows I could get more of a setup rather than just the Apple hardware for my budget. Because I went with Windows I was able to also get a good mic and audio setup, other accessories that I would not have been able to get on the Apple budget, replacing the iMac for the PC with the huge ultrawide and the above mentioned audio kit was the winner for me. Then for the MacBook Pro swap out the same thing really I think my MacBook Pro 2013 was built to a much better standard to the ones that are built today, if I need MacOS which I have not found a reason to need one yet in all this lockdown then I still have it. On my Razer Blade I am going to put Pop OS on there as a dual boot I think.

I must be going through the same thought process as you did a few months ago. My MacBook needs replacing but the £2.5k price tag stings a bit. If it wasn’t for O365 collaboration I’d probably run with Linux. MacOS has always been in the middle but that price tag!
I’ll be sure to check the YouTube video out.

Thanks for the comment, it’s been a complete refreshing change. The Microsoft Apps and just apps in general that are available cross OS and platform but on Windows they just have more functionality and just generally better. My next test will be if we ever get out on the road again, I have replaced my MacBook Pro with the Razer Blade Stealth 13” and I cannot wait to put that through it’s paces.

I am hoping to complete the whole office setup in the next couple of weeks and will put a YouTube video up.
