2020 has seen a lot of virtual events happening for obvious reasons, but when you have such a strong VeeamON event earlier in the year and you know you have more insight, vision and product news to share you put on another event later in the year. But with a twist Veeam Live was a one-day event and all the breakouts and keynotes were live. The focus on the event was to get into the thought leadership topics around our industry and cloud data management. But it was also a platform that would enable us to talk about recent acquisitions, additional product release announcements and our next release of Veeam Backup & Replication v11.
This post is going to recap on some of those points.
A Kubernetes container data management solution, there is no doubt this world of containers and Kubernetes has been growing quite quickly over the last few years and there is a real need now to be thinking about persistent volume data protection as well as overall data management tasks when it comes to this new platform. Veeam will integrate Kasten’s K10 into its Veeam Backup & Replication.
Veeam Backup for Google Cloud Platform
Veeam Cloud Backup for Google Cloud Platform will sit alongside our existing products for AWS and Microsoft Azure. This will give us the same functionality that we have with the existing hyperscalers in regards to protecting IaaS workloads, allowing customers to leverage Google Cloud Storage to store their backups in cloud based storage and also the capability of being able to directly restore to the Google Compute layer of GCP.
Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 v5
Although not widely mentioned, we are also very close to the SaaS backup offering enhancements that have been made in v5 with the introduction to the ability to protect Microsoft Teams. I have been doing quite a lot of work recently on VBO, in particular on the YouTube channel and running through the ease of deployment and deployment options.
You can find out more about the product in general here.
You can also find a recent walkthrough including v5 demos here from a Cloud Field Day session I did.
Veeam Backup & Replication v11
Anthony and I had a great slot in the agenda to share the unannounced features of Veeam Backup & Replication v11. We had already announced 6 features at the VeeamON event in June earlier this year, focusing around CDP, Archive Tier, Google Cloud Storage, Instant NAS Recovery, Instant DB Recovery and the new Veeam Agent for MacOS.
In this session we got to share an additional 11+ features you will be seeing in the upcoming release, I am going to let you go back and catch the recording within the Veeam Live platform.
As a lot of people know the IT Community is very close to my heart I have lived and breathed the IT Community from pretty early on in my career and continue to love on a daily basis the power of the community and how things are shared freely between individuals and the company badge you work for here doesn’t matter or get in the way of the community spirit we all help each other out no matter what.
Introducing Veeam Legends, a wider Veeam community program that was announced in the Veeam Live closing keynote. This new platform is going to enable you to share experiences and expand your network. There will be on-demand training resources and lots of gamified content and resources to earn points and badges. I have also heard there is going to be some SWAG on offer!
You can find more about this and also register here.
In wrapping up, two more resources to catch up on what is coming and if you want to go back and listen and watch the content again.
